Cleaning up the Aftermath of the

Tree Damage

After we got the grounds reasonably cleared so we could move around on the property
our next step was cutting down what remained of our once beautiful  trees.

People came from miles around to get some free wood

Cleaning up after grinding the stumps down below ground level which tool close to 4 very long days

Once the stumps were ground up it was time to clean up the mess it made.  For that task we had to haul our old 69 Ford dump truck out of moth balls where it had been sitting for the last 3 or so years.  After installing a new power brake booster and master cyclinder, 2 new front break wheel cyclinders, a new water pump, and a few other costly little goodies like a new battery it was finally ready to go to work.  That little ordeal cost us close to $400 bucks not to mention the few days we had to give up to do the work.

Hows this for a pile of roots.

This is just a Quarter of what we actually took out. By the time we were finished with the front yard this pile was twice as big as our dump truck.

This part of the operation has thus far taken weeks to accomplish due to waiting on the dirt to dry and equipment repairs on our bobcat.  On the 2nd night while we were digging out around one of the stumps we unknowly ran across a rock that the rim of the tree stump had compleatly grown around.  Evidently when it broke up a part of it got caught between the bucket and the tilt cyclinder when the bucket came back and pinched the rock. It then dented in the end cap and peirced the whiper seal on the cyclinder which caused it to blow hydraulic fliud everywhere,

It blew out so much oil I thought I'd hit a water main or something lol.
$500 more bucks not to mention at least 5 days and we were back in business again

Our house after the initial grading job.

Since this photo we've totaly fubared the yard digging roots up at least twice and were going to have to do it at least one more time before we get it right.
