Sun 'N Fun 2002
This year was my favorite Sun 'N Fun ever!
Special thanks to John Pohlman of Rotorheads Newsletter for supplying the pictures for this page.
This is a
pic our our motorhome set up in Chopper Town
I got to spend almost 2 weeks on site in Chopper Town.
Thanks to everyone that helped put on the show, putting it mildly
I had a blast!
I got to leave out of Knoxville on the Tuesday night before the show this year and arrived about 11am Wednesday morning. Again this year, like the last, I volunteered again. That's what made it a blast, it gave me something more to do than sit around and shoot the bull lol. Now I like doing that, but I'm high maintenance and have got to have something to do all the time or I'm not a happy camper lol. I got a sunburn from hell this year, my ears even peeled lol. After I got home I got even worse, think I experienced sun poisoning for the first time.
.
The first day of the show I got to ride the pattern with Mark in a Safari (Baby Bell) helicopter and as usual it was so Kewlllll. This was my first time making the loop around the show from the air and you can see just how big it is. Oshkosh is supposed to be a bigger airshow but looking down on it all it's pretty hard to imagine.
This is Bill and Bobbie Myers
The two main people responsible for putting on the show in
Chopper Town at Sun 'N Fun.
They've been doing it for years and you can sure tell by how well
they run the place.

This guy in the control tower is John
He's a fellow that uses his vacation every year to man the control tower in Chopper Town and does a fantastic job of it. Nothing on the field or in the air gets past this fellow. The young lady up there with him is all the way from England and is part of a force of many volunteers that keep Sun 'N Fun rocking and rolling.

This thing looks like it really going to hit it off with folks. It drew major crowds all through the show this year. I, for one, was very impressed with it and it was an honor to get to meet BJ, this guy forgot more yesterday about helicopters than most of us will ever know all put together.
The Pro
Drive Mini 500 Turbine certainly was a show stopper
People flocked around this thing all week. Just hearing it start up was a thrill to witness.

This ship
belongs to Bob Fiorenze
We've seen it
here many times and its always a pleasure to get to see it.
Here's a picture of the broken 2nd generation RotorWay swing arm
that belonged to Chris Stevens. It gave it up this year at the show
this year. It had a whopping 30 hours on it at the time Chris noticed
it during his pre flight check. John spurling had one of his new ones
on hand lucky for Chris or his fun would have been over for sure.

Mike Solano
If you've
got an interest in Gyro's this is the guy to see.
Awards at the show
We received 2nd place in the judging this year and the ship that beat us out was really something to see. Wayne Macneil, the fellow that built it did one hell of a job and up to this point it's is the sharpest RotorWay I've ever seen.
