Seymour Air Park
2003/04
Our current Airport, Seymour Airpark
(TN20)
Here we go
again lol.
Well we
found a home, and while its 32 miles away and going to take some work,
it would
appear we found a pretty good place to nest our bird.
Getting
into this place took us quite awhile.
After a
few months of talking to the folks there they told us we could create
a spot next to a couple of hangers in the airpark which turned out to
be quite a chore but someday we'll whip it lol.

This is Donna and I Digging in, Litterally! lol
So far
we've had about 30 tons of gravel hauled in and Donna and I spread it
as far as it would go.
This good Ole
Tennessee red dirt eats rock like it's going out of style. It
takes about 4 days for the ground to dry out enough to play bobcat on
so we don't get much done in between rains. This year its
rained 4 out of 7 days every week and it's looking like this project
is going to take forever to see the end of.
This is the two hangers we're on the end of.
It sure would have been alot easier on us if we could have gotten into one of them but the fellow that has the only one with enough room disn't wanna share so our trailer is out in the elements. As soon as we got enough rocks spread out on the ground we hauled our monster in and set up camp.
It's still pretty muddy and it's a real deal keeping our trailer free of that red stuff.

Our little
ground handling unit we use has too small of tires
to traverse
the rocks and soft spots so it looks like our next project will be
retro fitting it with some kind of bigger tires.
Once we get it
all finished, life should be pretty good here.
Our Honda ATV,
The
latest investment in our flying stuff.
Now
that were on rocks there isn't any way we can pull the ship across it
ourselves so we had to buy us a tug.
Whats another
$5000 dollar investment into this venture huh!

Looking from east to west this is a sorta panaramic view of the airpark runway.
Now here is one of the best parts about beng here,
The Sunday morning Fly In breakfest.
Every sunday morning several people get up at 5:00 am in the morning drive down here and cook breakfast for the folks who fly in here to eat. From about 7:30 am until 10:30am or so it's a packed house and then the whole thing is over. For 3 hours it almost rivals dinner time at Homer Bell's Fly In's lol.
This is
Toddy the fellow who had a dream and began this airpark.
He's quite a character and it's a joy to sit and listen to him tell of his ventures.

The last plane to come in and land for breakfast Sunday February 22, 2004
One down 2
to go.
Brandy's
next & then, last but not least, my Mama! LOL
We flew over everything we could find worth looking at for over an hour and a half lol. Donna had a ball and got to see the Smoky Mountains from a whole new perspective. We also witnessed a race track, lots of cell towers, a few trailer parks and lots of homes with their very own lakes not to mention bunches of farms. She's ready to go now and thinking of all the places she wants to witness from up high.
Just prior to landing I asked Donna if she thought everything we'd been through to get to this moment was worth it and her reply was Hell Yeah! lol.
Seeing that look on her face was pricless to me and one hell of a long time coming.
Thanx to
all of the folks
that helped
us get to this magic moment in our lives.
From here on in were going to have an adventures sections where well keep you folks posted with our flying ventures.

This is how we spend alot of our time at the airpark.
The folks here and the neighbors around the place are some pretty good people, they make us feel like were part of the place and enjoy chatting with them very much.

There aren't many airports you can have a camp fire at.

You've got to look pretty close but these are shots of a hot air balloon heading our way.
They ended up landing south of us due to the winds changing and begining to blow them to the southeast we think. I'm reasonably sure this wasn't a VFR flying day for airplanes and have no idea what the minimums are for balloons but this pilot was surely up there in the soup.
