Sand Blasting
At first it seemed this wasn't going to be bad at all but later after we figured out it was a never ending job we changed our minds lol.
After researching everything we could find out we decided to use glass beads to sand blast our parts and frame with. First off the regular media removes too much metal and it's tougher to get a uniform finish. The glass beads not only give off a consistent finish but actually leave the metal stronger. They basically shot peen the metal tighter instead of just removing metal.
One hard thing here was that we had to reload the blaster again and again. Its uses sand like its going out of style. We draped plastic all around to catch the sand so we could reuse it saving us a bunch of money.
Be sure to use gloves with high cuffs if you do your own work.
While I was doing it a part fell down and scratched my wrist. Sometime there after I accidently went across my wrist with the nozzle and it blew sand into and under my skin. Instantly it made a spot under my skin about the size of a quarter and it took many months to get all that sand out of the wound.
This bare metal turns rusty in a very short time so the very next morning we were painting fools lol. The whole process took about 6 LONG days and that was just the big stuff. The smaller things that would fit into the blasting cabinet, that we borrowed, we took our time on and then kept the blasted parts warm in our shop until we primed them.
