Safety Wiring
Pretty simple to the eye and boggling to the mind lol.
This
is a try and try again thing every time you do it. After doing it a
few times it's easy as long as your mind is on your work. The
after affect is good as it keeps bolts from backing out and may
well save your life one day. You may not like doing it but it
must be done. Just think of all the new really kewl scars
you'll have snagging yourself on those nice sharp ends lol. Be
sure to bend that end to a place where it can't get you when it's
over or you'll see the humor in that line.
I got dinged in the judging at a few air shows for not having a small hook in the end of the wire so make sure you do it for that if for nothing else.
Also
be sure to safety wire the air bleed pet cocks especially the one on
top of the engine. RotorWay finally put out a bulletin when Bill Orth
and I crashed from one coming open when a fan belt that frayed spun
it open. You can read all about it in the flight training section of
the site in
Phase
II training at RotorWay.
Funny thing about this bulletin I never noticed until I posted it on this site. Its dated almost a year prior to the time Bill and I went down over it and I don't know about the rest of you folks but I never saw it until that Issue of RotorWay's Sport helicopter came out.
