Oil bath leaks
This is
only for people keeping the chain and oil bath.
These are
the places that the oil bath can leak and things that I have found wrong.
(1)
At the oil
seal- I have seen this seal in upside down. I've seen the secondary
shimmed to
adjust the chain after the seal had been installed. Make sure it is glued
in.
(2)
The rubber
seal between the top and bottom
I silicone
both the front and rear covers. Make sure the pieces fit properly and that
the top and
bottom are pulled together and clamped until the silicone dries.
(3)
The hole
where the main shaft goes through
(A)
Try to keep the oil bath from hitting the seat back.
(B)
Keep the main shaft from touching the oil bath.
(C)
Have enough clearance on the front side of the main shaft to allow
for chain adjustment.
If these
things aren't ok, the oil can climb up out of the holes.
(4) The
plexiglass cover
Seal the
cover with silicone. Don't cut into the wood brace.
(5)
The seam
between the two top pieces
Make the
two pieces fit. Use silicone.
(6)
Any holes
drilled in the bath
When you
drill a hole, it must be sealed. Use silicone
around the
holes and also a little on the threads of the bolts.
(7)
Using more
oil in the oil bath will cause the oil to leak out.
My
helicopter is almost 5 years old now and hasn't leaked a drop of oil
or anything
else. I
don't consider myself a genius or even a good speller but if mine
doesn't leak,
yours
shouldn't either.
One more---
If you fly upside dowm, all the oil will leak out.
