Main Rotor Blade Tip Weights
Not as easy as they look.
We cut the metal in half with a metal saw and the blade wandered a bit.
By the time we squared the two pieces up we lost about 3/32 to 1/8 of metal. Weight wise they came out just right so we went on with installing them.
The holes
through the blade skins must remain straight
so the edges
of the screw heads are sitting correctly.
Once we got the hole drilled
we placed the weight inside the blade and noticed it didn't set level to the screw so we had to drill the weight at an angle. That means when you install the nut to clamp it together the nut doesn't hit squarely all the way around. To make it work I slightly beveled the back side of the weight where the nuts contact. It still wasn't perfect but I went with it anyway.
