Main Body
We
learned several new words while working on the body
and
really don't have anything good to say about it.
The ships molds are better on the pilots side than the passengers side. Its almost like someone meticulous set up the pilots side and someone totally different set up the passengers side. We've no idea because we couldn't get a reasonable explanation from anyone at RotorWay. From the way the seams line up to the way the seatback is misshaped every piece seems to be from a slightly different model and/or mold. I can understand the metal frame changing a little with all the welding it goes through but fiberglass and molds don't change from one day to another. Something is not right here and we feel RotorWay needs to do some major improvements in this department for sure.
When we go to RotorWay for training we're going to ask for a tour of the fiberglass department and see if perhaps there's a reason we went through such pains assembling the body and if there is we'll add an explanation here on this page about what's up with it.
When I was out there for my Phase I Training I got the tour of the factory. It didn't reveal any more to me then I knew before I went. I guess the answer is RotorWay is happy with what there putting out quality wise and were stuck with it. They have all the tooling, molds and equipment in house so there isn't any other excuse other than that
Prior to beginning your body take a serious look at the seatback and it will make it much easier for you to understand the problems your about to face and how to deal with them when you arrive at the different stages of the body construction as well as other things affected by it.
