Fuel Tank Sending Unit
We haven't got a good picture of the sending units, guess the dog ate it lol.
Its a pretty simple setup but like all the fuel tank fittings we had to be really careful not to strip the hole out.
If you change fuels you'll need to change the settings on the sending unit so the gauge will read correctly. I have a feeling that's the reason there are so many RotorWays that have run out of fuel in flight.
We drilled two small holes in the eyebrow panel to allow us to calibrate the sending unit easily. To date we've only had to do it once but then again were pretty consistent in using the same type and brand of fuel.
We also moved the ground wire for the tank up to the inertia switch bracket. Having it where RotorWay said to put it didn't get it for us. This wire really should have been ran to the main grounding point on the engine lower bracket bolt. That may have prevented the gauge from gaining fuel when the com was keyed. It's very important that all the grounds on the ship terminate at the same place or you'll get different readings on things, ofcourse that's just my opinion.
