Bus Terminal

Here is something neat we did with our bus terminals
that makes adding to or trouble shooting the ships avionics a lot easier.

It added alot of work as far as running the wires to and from it and it opened up the intercom and headsets to possible system interference, but a couple of capacitors here and there should take care of that.  As luck would have it so far we don't seem to have any interference but time will tell.

We had a wreck in doing this.

Our front air vent also uses the space of the center of the instrument pod.  We didn't realize it until we went to put our tub on after we split it and had to do some remodeling to our air intake to make amends for our error.  All in all it came out good and may even be a little better than the factory method because it channels the air better to the forward collector valve, we think!

A down side to having it set up like this is

if something fall into the bottom of the box we could have some shorting going on in it.  Its also a water trap so drain holes are a must.  It has some negative points but it beats the hell out of dismantling the ship to get to the bus strips and we can move things around easily like the cyclic grip switches in the event we dont like our switch layout.

We made a nifty cover out of fire proof acrylic

for the top of it that has all the terminals labeled with our trusty label maker.

So far knock on wood,

the only thing we've had to do in it is move one of the encoder leads down a couple of poles to get the Mode C from the Encoder working.
