Audio in and Audio Out Jacks

The Audio In and Out Jacks
are really supposed to be used for stereo input to the intercom system but I had a couple of different ideas in mind when I installed them.

One was for using a cell phone to phone into places prior to or once we arrived at like at a friends place for example. We could communicate with the folks on the ground and let them know any special instructions we had for them, like don't stand on the spot were planning on landing on, don't approach the ship until the blades stop turning etc. etc. Yeah Yeah yeah I know your not supposed to use a cell phone in an aircraft but at or below 500 feet AGL here in Tennessee I really don't think anyone is going to get their shorts in a knot.

Another good use is for monitoring a 2nd com channel by hooking our handheld units output to the intercom stereo input. When the secondary unit receives a signal the intercom system will pick it up and patch it through to the headsets without losing contact with our primary channel. If a signal comes in on the primary channel it will over ride the second input. After September 11th this really came in handy because you're supposed to monitor the emergency channel 121.5 all the time you're in the air.  Well thats kinda tough for us little guys with only one com unit to do, so were very glad we already had this feature wired in.

We can also use a video camera or a cassette recorder on our ship and the jacks will allow us get the chat off the com and intercom on the tape.
